I am quite keen in trying your software but my script is in Spanish. I am currently using Movie Magic Sctreenwriter because it has an acceptable tool to correct spelling errors. Any prospect that this could become available in DramaQueen? Congratulations for your creativity. LB
Hi Luc,
DramaQueen has currently support for German and English as language for document texts. This is in the form of spell checking and smart type features (auto-completion of scene heading elements). The infrastructure is in place that we can add support for additional languages with relative ease, but I can’t give you a time-frame, yet. We would be interested in people who can help us make translations of some important script vocabulary (20 words or so) for the smart-type feature. If you are interested, you can contact us at contact@dramaqueen.info. Thanks and best regards, -Stephan (DramaQueen developer)
Hello. I can’t read your privacy statement and policies (yes, I do actually read such things before agreeing to them) but it takes me to a German (?) version, despite the web address having “lang=en” in it.
Hello! Thank you very much for your interest in DramaQueen. Our privacy statement has indeed currently no English translation, which we need to fix as soon as possible.
For the meantime, I can recommend the service https://www.deepl.com/translator
You can paste our privacy statement on the left and the translation on the right is astoundingly good. When you hit the limit of freely translatable text amount, you can remove text from the top to get more text translated below.
Sorry for this inconvenience.
Best regards,
-Stephan
I can’t seem to down load on my MAC. It’s a MacBook pro Catalina 10.15.1
On macOS 10.15 “Catalina” the execution of the installer may be blocked with the message, that the package contents could not be checked for malicious software. This message is only displayed because DramaQueen has not been “notarized” by Apple. But in the ‘System preferences’ on the page ‘Security’ DramaQueen can be unblocked. (Other software is affected in the same way.)
Long-time fan and supporter of your software here. I was wondering what the current timeline or estimated date of arrival of the audioplay format was. It seems to be imminent, and I would like to use it for some current projects, so I’m quite curious.
I’ve been recommending your software to fellow writers and to students for quite some time now. Please keep up the excellent work!
Thanks a lot for your support & recommendations! Yes, we already started implementing the audio and stage play format. Our timeline is to finalize and release the new series features first. Subsequently we will focus on the new formating options for plays. So we ask for a little more of your patience!
DramaQueen is described here (https://www.scriptreaderpro.com/free-screenwriting-software) as “a free screenwriting software program that’s compatible with Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems.”
I can’t find the Linux download listed on this page.

Hi Chris, thanks for the note. Unfortunately, the linked site not quite up-to-date. We’ve had to put our Linux-support on hold, since there were very few users and statistics showed that we had almost no paying Linux users. While we could invest a one-time effort to update the packaging with recent dependencies, the Linux version is also a burden each time we do a release, taking up a significant portion of the process.
Hope this gives some background on our decision to postpone the Linux version for the time being.
Best regards,
-Stephan (developer)
can’t wait to use it
Hi! I love Drama Queen, honestly think is the best free screenwriting software out there. I wanna recommend it to my students, but does it support Spanish yet? Language is mainly the issue here.
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for your vey nice feedback. :) The program interface isn’t available in Spanish yet but you can change the language of texts to ‘Spanish’ in the Document settings. This applies to the spell checking, the scene heading options or the title page. You can find the Document settings in the main menue ‘Layout’ -> ‘General’ -> tab ‘Document’.
Well, I’m not sure what to say as I’ve left a comment above. Well, I do thank you and appreciate your trial version as money is very tight for me at this time.–Veronica Taylor
