DramaQueen 3.7 – Update-Report

This update contains new features, improvements and bug fixes.

NEW FEATURES – FOR DRAMAQUEEN PLUS & PRO

  • In the new ‘World’ panel, all the special features of the world in which the story takes place (Storyworld) can now be noted and compiled – by adding ‘world elements’. Pre-created, editable categories already cover all basic aspects of world building. (Unused templates can be removed via the context menu.) The world elements can be copied, sorted manually or according to different criteria, imported from other .dq documents and exported. In addition, references can be added to each world element and, conversely, world elements can be referenced with other elements (characters, locations, storylines or ideas).
  • It is now possible to assign locations to individual scenes in the Overview panel or to create new locations. The option is in the context menu of the scenes. The assigned locations can now also be displayed in the Prose version as a separate column in the Overview panel.
  • The new AI option ‘Alternative wording’ provides suggestions on how to formulate a selected short text passage even better. It is offered in the context menu of the text editor (right mouse button) provided that the selected passage consists of at least two words and a maximum of one sentence or 200 characters. If you select a suggestion, the passage in the text is replaced directly.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • When using the AI functions, the latest versions GPT-4o snapshot and GPT-4o mini are now available. The new premium model GPT-4o snapshot is 50% cheaper for input tokens and 33% cheaper for output tokens than GPT-4o. GPT-4o mini is more than 60% cheaper than GPT-3.5 Turbo, has improved multilingual understanding, and can process the same amount of input text as the bigger model (128.000 tokens).
  • All secondary panels (world, ideas, characters, locations, storylines) now have an optimized space distribution: From a certain panel width, the ‘References & Research’ section is no longer placed below the description section, but moves to the right. This makes better use of the width of the monitor. The lines of the description section are shorter and therefore easier to read, while more lines can be displayed at the same time.
  • In the ‘Ideas’, ‘Characters’, ‘Locations’ and ‘World’ panels, elements can now also be duplicated – either via the duplicate icon in the toolbar or via the duplicate option in the context menu. The context menu opens when you right-click on the element you want to duplicate in the element list.
  • When you copy a text passage consisting of multiple paragraphs to the beginning of a scene in the narrative level or after a heading, only the first paragraph will now be formatted as ‘First Paragraph’ and all subsequent paragraphs will be formatted as ‘Normal.’
  • The AI prompt suggestions ‘Historical consistency’ and ‘Sensitivity check’ have been added.

BUG FIXES

  • Automatic summaries from headings will show the headings only again on Windows in the Overview.
  • When steps are rearranged in the Board panel by drag & drop, and the Archive is activated globally, the steps will no longer disappear.
  • In the Mac version, the toolbar of Simple Text Documents is no longer integrated into the window trim. It looks less modern, but on the other hand, the icons are functional again.
  • Displaying many annotations at the same time could result in slower performance. This issue has now been resolved.
  • If you entered summaries with line breaks in the Board panel, you no longer accidentally delete the text the first line break when editing the summary in the Overview panel.
